A kitchen remodel is inconvenient at best.  While your dream kitchen is most definitely going to be worth it in the end, getting it may present more issues than you realized.  The fact is, even with great workers and an outstanding plan, there are going to be some adjustments that have to be made during the remodeling period.  The kitchen is the hub of most homes.  This is where the family eats, children do homework, school projects are completed, and bills are paid.  While this looks different from house to house, the fact is if you put this room out of commission for even a short time, there are going to be issues.  Try the following tips for making a kitchen remodel as painless as possible.

Keep a picture of what the finished product should look like in a prominent place in the house for the whole family to see.  This will help everyone push through when they are tired of not being able to grab a drink or a snack as easily as they could.

While it may be tempting to simply eat out every meal, this is not always a good idea for your checkbook or your waist line.  There are ways to make it easier on both.  To get around the cooking and refrigeration issues, keep a supply of foods to be eaten “as is.”  This could be granola bars, dry cereal, bread, crackers and peanut butter.  Whole fruit such as apples, bananas, and oranges are good options as well.

These are great options for breakfast and lunch, and but no one wants these types of foods day in and day out.  Another option is to ignore fast food and pizza for the most part and go ahead with food from a nice sit down place.  The trick is to order it to go.  Typically, you can feed four people on the amount of food you get with two meals, and you can take it home and drink water rather than spending money on a drink.  You get healthier food than you would at a fast food joint, and you actually get a cooked meal rather than the cold foods you have at home.

If you can keep stuff for sandwiches and other quick fixes, keep yourself from getting bored by trying new things and getting creative.  Find new sandwich recipes, get creative with bread and condiments, set up a fun eating area in another room or outside, and try to enjoy the adventure.
