If your water heater is located some distance from the kitchen, it might make sense to install an optimally located second water heater for your kitchen. Whether you are trying to conserve energy and heat or you want the convenience of more hot water or hot water faster, this might be a good investment. If you are waiting for the hot water to reach the kitchen, you are running water and allowing the water to cool somewhat as it travels through the pipes. Installing a separate water heater near the kitchen will eliminate this problem. An instant water heater might be just as effective for the sink(s). If you run the dishwasher frequently or you run it when there is competition for the hot water, adding an optimally located hot water heater for the kitchen might make life more comfortable for everyone.
