If you have decided to replace windows as part of your remodeling plan, you can save money by creating a plan that does not include making windows larger. When you make windows larger you must remove framing, drywall, and exterior siding. New framing must then be built to accommodate the new window size and to replace siding and drywall. This results in both material and labor costs. If you plan to replace windows and you must change the size of the windows, it will save a bit of money if you make them smaller. This change, however, will still involve additional framing and siding work, as well as drywall work.
