When planning the size of closets and purchasing cabinets don’t buy and install larger storage spaces than you actually need. You can maximize the space in any storage area by using storage systems. Storage systems are available in several types and styles and in a variety of price ranges. Choosing the right system or the right storage-organizing items will allow you to store more items in a particular space and make the items more accessible. For example, a two-tier canned-drink organizer will hold 12 cans in about the same space as 6 cans and make the items easier to see and retrieve. A lazy Susan will provide easier access to items that would otherwise require reaching to the back of an area. So before you add storage space or purchase more cabinets than you actually need, try using a storage system to maximize the space you have.
