At one time in our history, bartering services was a common means of paying for goods and services. Although bartering is no longer the norm, it is still very much alive. You can save a lot of money on your remodeling project by bartering with friends, relatives or neighbors who are skilled remodelers. In exchange for someone’s skilled work on your home, you simply offer in exchange a service you can provide, such as lawn care, computer skills, household chores, cooking, child care, etc. You will need to negotiate together to determine reasonable amounts of work as an exchange. If, for example, you love caring for a yard, and you know a plumber who could save you money on your remodel, work out a mutually agreeable trade of services.
