For a small one-time expenditure of just over $10.00, you can purchase and install a rain check gauge on your automatic sprinkler system. This small purchase could save you hundreds of dollars over the next two to three years. Most cities now charge you for water, sewer and run-off. The average automatic sprinkler system is set on a timer. It waters your yard or flower beds according to the settings you program. It doesn’t, however, stop watering when it is raining or when it has recently rained. A rain check gauge, installed on your automatic system, will be able to regulate your automatic sprinkler system and prevent it from watering your lawn when the lawn or flowerbed is already wet. Over a summer or two (or less time in warmer climates), your investment will save ten times the cost in savings on your water bill.
