Over time you will save water and money by installing an aerator in every faucet you install while remodeling or building an addition to your home. The simple installation of an aerator will reduce the flow of water through a standard faucet from 2.5 gallons of water per minute to 1.5 gallons per minute. Because the cost of water varies from region to region, your savings may be different from my example. If you generally run water through faucets in your home for an average of 30 minutes per day, an aerator will save 30 gallons of water per day. If you multiply that out for a month you could be saving $2.70 per month on water usage. You will also save on sewer assessment. This may seem like a small savings, but in dry regions, this could add up to a big difference.
