The sooner you order materials for your project, the better. First, you will be assured of having the materials on time. This prevents frustration, but more important, it prevents costly delays. Interruptions of work and delays due to not having the necessary materials are costly because you will have to pay people to stand around and wait. Second, ordering materials early also assures you of the best prices. Ordering early avoids all possibility of being charged rush manufacturing or milling fees and rush shipping or delivery fees. Third, ordering materials early (and receiving them early if you have space to store them until they are needed) gives you time to check them as they arrive. If anything is defective or there has been an error in the order fulfillment, you still have time to get a replacement or the correct amount of important materials. Finally, ordering materials early reduces the risk that something might be out of stock with the retailer, distributor or manufacturer.
