A number of costs can be controlled or reduced by carefully and thoroughly sealing off the portions of your home not included in or affected by your remodel or addition. Some of these costs are obvious: failure to seal off the construction or renovation area will increase your heating or cooling costs, particularly before the area is completely enclosed. Sealing you home can also prevent or reduce other costs as well.

First, it is easier to keep children away from a work site and the dangers they face when work is underway.

Second, you will preserve the air quality in the rest of the house. Demolition and construction create lots of dust and dirt, create sawdust in the air, and have a number of task-related odors. Careful sealing of your home will prevent these irritants from affecting your family.

Sealing off the work area will reduce the amount of dirt you will be cleaning up each day.
