If your house addition or remodeling project includes a crawl space in the design, you can save money by making it as low as possible. First, you will save money on building materials and you will reduce the structural support that is required under the house. Second, you will also see some long-term savings in your heating and cooling costs because there will be less area in which external air can swirl beneath the house. Finally, the lower the crawl space, the fewer stairs will be necessary for access, again saving on materials and labor.
