The parts of the basement that have no windows do not need to be lost space in your home. With a little creative thinking, these areas can become valuable to your family.

There are some ideas that are immediately obvious. For example, a bathroom does not require a window. A windowless room is also the perfect space for a home theater. A laundry room is also a good use for a windowless area. And, of course, windowless areas are perfect for storage.

But windowless areas can also capture light from the other side of the basement by using glass dividers, such as glass block, to create the wall between the rooms. Another alternative is to keep the basement as open as possible, defining areas in ways other than with walls. This keeps them open to some sunlight and prevents the feeling of being closed in.
