Depending on the types of work required to complete your project and the location of the project, you might need to do several things to protect your landscaping.

First, designate an area for storing materials, tools, etc. and a parking area for workers.

Second, by designating a pathway from the materials storage area to the work area, you can limit the damage to your grass and landscaping. If there is enough traffic to damage the grass, you will need to re-sod or re-seed only a limited area.

You can protect shrubs and other plantings by placing temporary fencing around them.

Fragile plants and high-maintenance landscaping (mulch, stone, etc.) might also be covered to prevent damage or infiltration of dirt, sawdust and the like.
