The major differences in making your attic into a craft/hobby room or an art studio will probably be lighting, storage and floor covering. An art studio must have plenty of natural light. You will probably want as many windows and skylights or roof windows as possible. You might also want a floor covering that is reasonably stain resistant and easy to clean. A smooth vinyl floor covering might be perfect.

Your specific use of the area might also dictate particular types of storage built into the walls or behind the walls. For example, some rough finish of the “dead area” under the slope of the roof, accessible through a door at one end, would be a great place to store large items like canvases. If you need to keep clay moist, you might want to have a sealed compartment built.
