 Another significant advantage of remodeling is you most likely will get a home that more closely fits your needs than if you move. If you move, you will have to envision yourself living in one of five to ten homes that best meet your requirements when you are house hunting. It is unlikely that any one is ideal. Each one will require you to make a variety of compromises, such as the neighborhood, the yard, the floor plan. The list goes on and on. And it is likely that you will want to make some changes to your new home as well. In the end, you may be trading old problems for new ones. Plus you will be paying for the privilege of moving. If you remodel, you already have a list of features that you know, through years of experience, could be improved in your home. After you add the family room, remodel the kitchen, and complete all the other projects on your list, there is a good chance your remodeled home will better fit your needs than if you moved.
