Tip #136: Shop the Sales

Shop every possible sale to save on every possible item. Check the sale flyers in the mail and the newspaper. Call local stores to learn the dates of sales. Check regularly for online sales. If you cannot find out if items you need are on sale, take the time to shop the sale for items you will need. If you have done your shopping carefully, you will have a reference for the suggested retail price of most of the items you need. By taking your notes to a sale, you are in the best possible position to know if you are getting a good deal by shopping the sale. Don't forget garage and yard sales. It is not unusual to find excess construction or remodeling materials in these sales. If you are shopping smart, you might get something new or almost new and in perfect condition for pennies on the dollar. Flea markets are also good places to find bargains on hardware and other materials.
