It’s no secret: Most people decorate their homes within a definite comfort zone. I get calls all the time from people who are tired of playing it safe with the same “look,” but just can’t quite get out of their zone. The most difficult choice often involves the use of color.

So how do you go about incorporating color without feeling uncomfortable? Here are some tips.

  1. Start with small “pops” of color. This can be accomplished with accent pillows, but how about bumping up the color quotient with something different – like colorful lanterns? This is a very cost effective way of incorporating pops of color into any room.
  2. Buy a colorful piece of artwork. It doesn’t have to be a large piece; it can be two smaller pieces that add spice to your room.
  3. Add something “glossy’ and modern to your traditional space. Try one acrylic piece of furniture or a fantastic, fun accessory.

Whatever you choose to do, don’t be afraid!
