How long does it take CenturyLink to cancel service?

The exact amount of time that it takes for CenturyLink to cancel service can vary on a case-by-case basis. Generally speaking, it can take up to 2 weeks for a service cancellation request to be fully processed.

During that time, it is important to continue paying your bills and follow through with any other cancellation steps requested by the company. After your service has been canceled, it typically takes up to 1-2 cycles before the final payment is charged.

This means that if you have already prepaid for services, you may still experience charges for those services once they have been canceled.

It is important to note that CenturyLink may also ask you to take certain steps as part of the cancellation process. For instance, you may be required to return certain equipment (such as modems and routers) before they can complete the cancellation request.

This procedure can add more time to the process and should be taken into consideration when determining an estimate for how long it will take to cancel service.

To ensure a timely and organized disconnection, it is important to have the following information available: The disconnection date, full name of the account holder, account number, address, home phone number, and the last four digits of the account holder’s social security number.

After providing this information and verifying the identity of the account holder, the agent will provide a disconnection reference number and confirm either a final bill amount immediately, or an estimated bill amount if all services are not disconnected at once.

Depending on the services requested, additional proceedings such as returning a router or modem may need to be taken. After disconnecting services, the customer will receive a confirmation email or letter within 5-7 business days.

This letter serves as proof of the disconnection date and the reference number associated with the disconnection, and will include any necessary information related to the disconnection.

In some cases, there may be no contract required. Typically, this depends on the services, along with the payment and installation options chosen. It’s always best to check with a CenturyLink representative if it’s unclear whether or not a contract is required.

Monthly payment options may require no contracts. However, if you elect to waive monthly payments and opt to pay the entire term in a single payment, then a contract may be required.
