Why won’t my Roku remote turn my TV on and off?

It is possible that the Roku remote is not programmed correctly to be able to control your television. As a first step, you should try re-pairing the remote to your Roku device and TV, as this is often the simplest fix in order to correct any issues with the remote.

To do this you will need to go to the Home screen on your Roku, select settings then System, and then Advanced system settings, and then select Remote or Pair remote. Once you have followed the onscreen instructions and re-paired your remote, you should be able to use all of the features, including the ability to turn the TV on and off.

If the re-pairing process does not work, you may need to reprogram the remote with your television. This can be done by going to the manufacturers website and locating the specific code for your television.

This code should be entered into the remote, and it should then be able to control your TV as it should.

Finally, if these steps do not work, it is possible that the battery in the remote is either not functioning correctly, or just needs to be replaced. Check the battery and replace it if necessary, and then try the above steps again.
