Top 15 Best Blenders 2020

Our top 15 best blender 2020 list is, well, our pride and joy.

We tested each blender individually and consumed more smoothies than we thought humanly possible, all so you can find the perfect blender first time. It took a lifetime, but it was worth it.

Head down to the start of our reviews to find out the best of the best, or read a bit more about how we selected these blenders.

No long sales pitches, useless summaries, or outdated details in this article. Instead, you can find the key features that really matter and our honest opinions below.

How We Picked the Top 15 Best Blenders Of 2020

There’s more to picking the best blender for smoothies or best Ninja blender than just testing it out with some fresh fruit.

We judged each blender individual by considering the following aspects:

  • Price

It’s not just about the cheapest blender, it’s about finding the best blender for the money. We looked at the materials used, the features available and the average lifetime of each blender to decide whether the price was worth it. Even our cheapest blender is excellent value for money. Any blender you pick from this list will be worth the money spent.

  • Performance

To test the performance, we looked at both short-term use and every day, long-term use. We consulted people who’d had the blender for years, as well as testing out all the features for ourselves. You can see the overall performance score (rated out of 10 when compared to all blenders on this list) in the table below the individual blender reviews.

  • Capability

How many features does it have and how much can it handle? This was a key part in separating the blenders into categories. We assessed what each blender was capable of individually. And, of course, we rigorously tested each blender to make sure it really was capable of what the manufacturers claim. You can find the best blender for ice, smoothies, price and more below.

  • Materials

Most blenders on the market are made of plastic, that’s hard to avoid. We reviewed a diverse selection so you can find a glass blender pitcher below amongst BPA-free smoothie blenders and stainless-steel immersion blenders. There are also the blade materials – some grades of stainless steel are better than others! Check out the aircraft-grade stainless-steel on the best Vitamix blender, for example. The main materials we looked at were:

  • Blades
  • Pitchers, cups, and containers
  • Motors
  • Buttons, switches, and dials
  • The unit shell itself
  • Ease of Use

Sometimes less is more. 101 speed settings and complicated pre-programmed options that can only be selected by pressing the right buttons simultaneously is not just practical. We thought carefully about when we would use each blender and whether it was easy to use the blender in that scenario. With a simple blender made for quick breakfast smoothies, you don’t want to spend 10 minutes finetuning for kale!

  • Cleaning and Maintenance

There are 3 main ways to clean a blender – self-cleaning by filling it with water and dish soap, handwashing, and shoving it in the dishwasher. We assessed not just the ease of cleaning the machine, but also the time spent cleaning and the effect this has on the lifetime of the product. As for maintenance, we kept a close eye on the blade sharpness, lid seals, screws and other areas that are always the first to wear away when assessing each blender and attachments.

  • Warranty and Customer Support

We’re not here to tell you that all these blenders are 100% perfect. Things go wrong. Accidents happen. Malfunctions occur. What really matters is whether the warranty will cover it and how customer support helps you resolve any issues. We read the fine print for you to find out what the warranty really covers and whether finding replacement parts is as easy as ringing the manufacturer or hours of searching on eBay.

  • Reliability

Warranty doesn’t last forever, but how long will your blender last? This is where we hit the books. Obviously, it was impossible for us to test each blender for years and years. New blenders would have been released by then! Instead, we kept a careful eye during our tests for signs of future weakness and did some deep research into customer experiences from those have been using the blenders since they were first sold.

Without further ado, this is the best blender for 2020.

Nutri Ninja BL642

Nutri Ninja BL642

Best Overall

  • A reliable, easy to operate, multi-purpose blender that can handle everyday use for smoothies, soups, and even ice cream.
  • Intelligent programming, ease of use and ease of cleaning make this a real joy to use.
  • It’s excellent value for money with a powerful motor, 3 cups, and a large pitcher.

Our Rating: 9.5/10

Of all the blenders we tested, this one was the best by quite a margin. Firstly, the price is not intimidating, but it’s clearly not a budget blender either.

Next, opening the box is a real treat. You’ve not only got a blender, but you’ve also got 3 different sized cups included too. Not cheap plastic gimmicky cups. The largest cup has a nice grip around the middle. A simple touch, but it’s the little things that make you smile.

What really matters, however, is the performance. We just loved using it. Unlike the Vitamix models which top many online blender lists, the Nutri Ninja is intelligent. It doesn’t bombard you with 10 speed settings and pulse buttons. You don’t need to spend days experimenting to find the perfect speed for a green goddess smoothie.

It knows what you want and it does it. Perfectly. Every time. A lot of time has gone into programming this machine and it shows.

The thought of making a smoothie with this blender puts a smile on your face. It turns a chore into another chance to use your favorite kitchen appliance.

It’s highly convenient to use and clean, easy on your wallet, and so far, it’s standing the test of time. It’s BPA-free plastic, but sturdy. It can withstand whizzing up ice cubes and hot liquids easily plus frequent runs through the dishwasher.

The motor is powerful without being excessive, the cups and pitcher are decent sizes, the blades are sharp… need we go on?

Every box that we judge a blender by is ticked. The Nutri Ninja is a fantastic blender that we’d recommend to anyone.

Best Ninja Blender Features

  • Motor: 1200 watts
  • Container size: pitcher 72oz, 3 cups 18, 24 and 32oz with lids
  • Number of settings: 3 speed settings plus 5 AUTO-IQ pre-programmed settings
  • Blades: pro-extractor blades (cup blending), stacked blade assembly (pitcher blending)
  • Dishwasher safe: yes
  • Warranty: 1-year limited warranty
  • Suitable for: smoothies, frozen drinks, chopped veg, food prep, dips, soups, and other hot foods

Vitamix 5200 Standard Blender

Vitamix 5200 Standard Blender

Runner-Up, Best Overall

  • An extremely powerful and well-built blender that can do everything exceedingly well.
  • Crushes ice in seconds and blade friction heats vegetables to blend soups directly in the pitcher.
  • Can handle anything from dough mixing to ice and nut butter to spices, coffee beans, and ice cream.

Our Rating: 8.4/10

Looks can be deceiving. Once you get beyond the 90s exterior and clunky switch dials to operate the blender (oh, and the seriously hefty price tag) you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the efficiency and performance of this blender.

The only reason it’s not managed to snag the number 1 spot on our list of the top 15 best blenders 2020, is the crazy price tag. You can shave off $50 if you buy a refurbished model, but you’ll still need to fork out over $350. Yes, it’s a good blender, but in our opinion it’s overpriced.

Now for the cool stuff.

The motor is not just powerful, it’s cool running. It’s designed to blend down anything and everything without overheating. It powers an incredibly sharp and strong (it’s not going to chip easily) blade made from aircraft-grade stainless-steel.

It cleans itself of light mixes (smoothies and dips, like homemade mayo) but we found you need to handwash it realistically to get rid of every trace of nut butter or sticky dough. You can chuck it in the dishwasher too.

You can adjust the blades as well. Knock the pulse switch up and turn the dial up to the fastest speed and you’ll have a chunky soup boiling hot in just 6-minutes. But we also tested the blender with cool smoothies and ice cream. The cool running motor and low-speed setting turned out freezing cold, silky smooth mix in just over a minute.

Performance is exceptional. If you have money to spare and need a no frills, no fuss, 100% reliable blender, this is the one for you.

Best Vitamix Blender Features

  • Motor: 1500 watts
  • Container size: 64oz pitcher
  • Number of settings: 10 speed settings plus pulse
  • Blades: 4-point aircraft-grade stainless-steel blade
  • Dishwasher safe: yes
  • Warranty: 5-year limited warranty (brand new), 90-day warranty (refurbished)
  • Suitable for: smoothies, frozen drinks, chopped veg, food prep, dips, soups, and other hot foods

Braun MQ505 Multiquick Hand Blender

Braun MQ505 Multiquick Hand Blender

Best Hand Blender

  • Strong hand blender with turbo boost motor that makes quick work of tough foods with minimal effort
  • Durable stainless-steel design, S-shaped blade, and lengthy 3-year warranty
  • Versatile blender with soft grip shape and easy click blender/whisk components

Our Rating: 9.6/10

The Multiquick 5 blender earns the spot as the best hand blender 2020 for being very easy and simple to operate at a reasonable price. With many hand blenders, we find that super powerful motors can make it difficult to hold onto the blender for long periods of time.

That’s the main reason the Braun hand blender is the best. It has just enough power to tackle hard fruits and vegetables in soups and smoothies without vibrating your hands off. Just plug it in (the 60-inch cord allows you plenty of room to move) and keep your thumb pressed firmly on the soft button.

The blade is not the most impressive, but it’s still a very capable stainless-steel 2-point design. It can handle a lot of use – proven by the fact Braun is more than happy to offer you a 3-year warranty on the product.

You can use the blender in the 20oz beaker or safely blend in your pots and pans, even if they’re non-stick. Like all good hand blenders on the market, the Braun has a bell-shaped cover that reduces suction, protects containers and prevents your food flying everywhere as you blend.

You’ve also got a whisk attachment included in the box. Finally, we also liked that we could buy more attachments for our blender from Braun without buying a whole new motor too. Chopping cups and different sized blades are as easy to find as replacement parts. Oh, and they’re all dishwasher proof!

The steady performance, sturdy construction, and German reliability are why we really love this hand blender.

Braun Multiquick 5 Blender Features

  • Motor: 350 watts
  • Container size: 20oz
  • Cord length: 60 inches
  • Number of settings: 2 speed settings plus whisk attachment
  • Blade: stainless-steel 2-point s-shaped blade
  • Dishwasher safe: yes
  • Warranty: 3-year limited warranty
  • Suitable for: smoothies, soups, baby food, and whisking

Ninja Fit Personal Blender

Ninja Fit Personal Blender

Best Small Blender

  • Quickly blends single servings into a 16oz personal cup (2 included in the box)
  • Powerful motor can handle ice, frozen fruit, and tough ingredients
  • Dishwasher-safe, compact size and very easy to operate

Our Rating: 8/10

Our best small blender for 2020 perfectly balances size with price, efficiency, and power. With a 700-watt motor, it’s one of the most powerful blenders on our top 15 best blenders 2020 list when you look at the level of power for the size of the blender.

It can easily handle ice, frozen fruits, and other tough ingredients. It’s also suitable for milkshakes, protein shakes, dips and other savory blends. You blend directly into the 16oz cup: there’s 2 included, so you can put off the washing up for an extra day or share a smoothie with a friend.

Advertised as one of the best personal blenders, the Ninja Fit is also one of the easiest to use. Simply push down on the cup to blend. Pop on a lid (also included in the box) and you’ve got a smoothie to go.

The cups will last longer if you handwash them, but we didn’t observe any damage with a few washes in the dishwasher. Our other problem with the blender was the noise. It’s not quiet! Perfect for home, but take a look at our Best Cheap Blender below for an office smoothie maker.

Overall, this is a quick and powerful blender that we highly recommend for those that are short on space but still need a blender that can pack a punch.

Ninja Fit Personal Blender Features

  • Motor: 700 watts
  • Container size: 2x personal cups 16oz
  • Number of settings: 1 (push down to blend)
  • Blades: 4-point stainless-steel blade
  • Dishwasher safe: yes, top rack
  • Warranty: 1-year limited warranty
  • Suitable for: smoothies, frozen drinks, dips, and purees

Hamilton Beach 51103

Hamilton Beach 51103

Best Cheap Blender

  • The most reliable best blender under $100 for personal use (1 cup)
  • Ideal for quickly blending soft fruits, milkshakes, and protein shakes for breakfast
  • Very easy to clean (dishwasher-safe) and perfect for transporting to work or storing in small spaces

Our Rating: 7.6/10

Our best cheap blender is the Hamilton Beach 51103 model with 1 basic cup (you can also buy this model with extra cups for an extra fee). Currently, it’s 1/6th of the price of our best overall blender, with a very small blade, quiet motor and 1 function.

So, why buy this blender?

Well, it’s worth the money! Whether you want to get into the habit of smoothie breakfasts without spending a fortune or just need a basic blender for smoothie opportunities at work, this should be your first choice. And hey, if it breaks you can just buy another without emptying the bank.

It has one button that you need to hold down to blend (it works best if you pulse it) into the cup, which is also your travel cup. Once you’ve finished, wash the cup in the dishwasher. Storage is also very easy. The cord wraps around the slot in the base of the blender, and the cup fits snuggly on top.

Even when fully assembled the blender is 10-inches tall and weighs around 2 pounds. Yes, it’s made of plastic, but that’s moderately strong BPA-free plastic. It can handle daily use if you’re gentle with it and don’t overdo the motor.

For fruits like orange, banana, mango, and other soft pulps, it works like a dream. For harder fruits, like apples, rhubarb, and pears, you’ll need to cut them up small and blend with plenty of juice or water. We’d advise against using ice regularly if you want to keep it working like new!

Hamilton Beach Best Budget Smoothie Features

  • Motor: 175 watts
  • Container size: 14oz
  • Number of settings: 1
  • Blades: very small stainless-steel blades
  • Dishwasher safe: yes
  • Warranty: 1-year limited warranty
  • Suitable for: light smoothies and dips

Ninja Professional Countertop BL660

Ninja Professional Countertop BL660

Best Smoothie Blender

  • Strong 1100-watt blender with total crush technology that can crush ice and frozen fruit in minutes.
  • Blend directly into the 72oz pitcher or use the single-serve blade attachment in one of the 16oz Nutri Ninja cups with tight sealing lids.
  • Dishwasher-safe and BPA-free pitcher and single-serve cups with lids for easy cleaning.

Our Rating: 8.8/10

There are 2 key things we look for in the best smoothie blender for 2020. First is the capability to blend ice, frozen fruit, leafy greens, grainy ingredients, seeds, stems and other tough smoothie ingredients that choke up standard blenders. The second is ease of use.

When you want a quick smoothie, the last thing you want to do is pour from pitchers to travel cups and then spend 10 minutes handwashing all the attachments.

The Ninja Professional Countertop blender (BL660 model) meets both criteria, plus it’s reliable, sturdy and at an extremely reasonable price.

It can handle ice, frozen fruit and even the toughest of ingredients from rhubarb to celery. It’s quite noisy to operate and will heat up if you leave it on for more than 5 minutes at a time. But we will happily forgive those flaws for the consistency and speed at which it produces a delicious smoothie.

Of course, you can also use this blender for chopping vegetables, creating dips or salsas, and other recipes.

After you’ve whisked up a recipe, you can place the pitchers, blades, and cups straight into the dishwasher. Quick, easy, reliable and very good value for money.

Ninja Professional Countertop Best Smoothie Blender Features

  • Motor: 1100 watts
  • Container size: pitcher 72oz, 2x Nutri Ninja cups 16oz with lids
  • Number of settings: 3 speeds plus pulse and single-serve blends
  • Blades: multi-level stainless-steel 4-point blade, single-serve blade attachment
  • Dishwasher safe: yes
  • Warranty: 1-year limited warranty
  • Suitable for: smoothies, ice drinks, and purees

Breville Control Grip BSB510XL

Breville Control Grip BSB510XL

Best Immersion Blender

  • A powerful immersion blender with 15 speed settings that’s easy to use and comfortable to grip for long periods.
  • The design is both beautiful and functional, with a no-scratch shape that can be used in any deep or non-stick pan safely.
  • Extra-long 72-inch cord, 8-inch immersion depth, and stainless-steel blades capable of crushing ice.

Our Rating: 9.6/10

The best immersion blender award goes to the Breville Control Grip Immersion Blender. We just loved testing it out. With such a comfortable, ergonomic design and lengthy cord, we could test out all of the 15 speed settings in one go. Blending is very easy, even when you’re handling hard vegetables and ice chips.

In the box, you’ve got the blending unit with its ergonomic design and 280-watt motor, the 8-inch blending stick with blade, a small chopping bowl with separate blade attachment, a 42oz jug that’s the perfect size for the blender, and a whisk attachment.

The blades themselves are standard, stainless steel. It’s the bell-shaped cover that’s the impressive component. It protects surfaces from the blade so you won’t scratch plastic containers or ruin non-stick linings in your soup pan. It’s also designed to reduce suction (although not as much as Breville claim) and is ribbed inside to increase turbulence. This pushes your food down towards the blade, instead of lumps getting stuck behind the blade.

Cleaning and storing are easy (the containers stack together), but you MUST remember that the chopper lid cannot go in the dishwasher along with all the other attachments. We know from experience that it will warp easily even on the top rack. Write HANDWASH in permanent marker on it, if you must.

But really, that’s the only fault we could find. A very good multi-use immersion blender that will make quick work of any food in any container (that’s 3-inches wide at least to fit the blender head).

Breville Control Grip Blender Features

  • Motor: 280 watts
  • Container sizes: chopping bowl 25oz, jug 42oz
  • Cord length: 72 inches
  • Number of settings: 15 speed settings plus whisk attachment
  • Blade: stainless-steel blender blade, stainless steel chopper bowl blade attachment
  • Dishwasher safe: yes
  • Warranty: 1-year limited warranty
  • Suitable for: smoothies, ice chips, hot liquids, and food processing

Ninja Master Prep QB900B

Ninja Master Prep QB900B

Best Blender for Ice

  • Designed to handle ice mixtures and provides exceptional consistency for crushed/snow/pureed ice.
  • Very good performance, easy to assemble and very simple to use.
  • No slip base and tight-fitting lids for both containers included to keep your food fresh.

Our Rating: 8.3/10

Our choice for the best blender for ice is the Ninja Master Prep. It’s not the biggest, nor is the motor the most powerful, yet it handles ice like a dream. It all comes down to the extremely sturdy construction and very sharp blades (watch your fingers).

There’s a technique to getting a perfect consistency of crushed ice. Start by pulsing the button (we love that it’s very simple to operate yet still allows a great amount of control) until the ice chips or cubes are shredded, then continue to blend until your desired consistency.

Unlike many other blenders that require water to be blended with the ice, you can just chuck ice into this blender and get started. It can also handle chopping, dicing, and smoothies with frozen fruit. It’s very easy to get carried away with your blending, resulting in silky smooth textures that you may not have intended.

Other good features to mention include the non-slip base and measurements on the side of both containers. Clearly, Ninja has thought about the design of the blender very carefully. With pressure being applied to the top of the small blender, it could easily slide about or fall off the counter entirely without the non-slip base.

There is another model available with a 450-watt motor and different container sizes. However, we found that the 400-watt model crushes ice with ease, so you really don’t need to spend a few extra dollars on the next model up when the cheaper/older model still works perfectly. If it ain’t broke…

Ninja Master Prep Blender Features

  • Motor: 400 watts
  • Container sizes: pitcher 48oz, chopper bowl 16oz
  • Number of settings: 1
  • Blades: stacked 4-point blade
  • Dishwasher safe: yes
  • Warranty: 1-year warranty
  • Suitable for: blending ice, purees, and chopping

Mueller Ultra Stick

Mueller Ultra Stick

  • Hand-held immersion blender you can use in any pot, pan or container, with 2 dishwasher-safe attachments.
  • 9 speed settings, heavy-duty stainless-steel construction for frequent use and difficult blends.
  • 500-watt copper motor is extremely powerful.

Our Rating: 9.3/10

One of the best multi-purpose immersion blenders for 2020. You can blend hot and cold dishes from soup and baby food to cake batter and meringue (using the whisk attachment) with this blender. The blade attachment is encased in a stainless-steel cover, meaning you can use it in non-stick pans without worrying about the blade ruining your cookware.

You can’t crush ice with the immersion blender even though it is as powerful as other ice-crushing blenders. Due to the design, you’d have ice chips flying everywhere around your kitchen. Use a covered blender for that.

Despite this, we were impressed with just how powerful this immersion blender is. It can handle tough vegetables, leafy greens and other ingredients that some blenders have nightmares about. We could imagine professional chefs relying on this hand blender for preparing complex dishes. With both attachments being dishwasher-safe, the only component missing from this package is a container or jar to blend in.

During our review and testing process, we also came across a few issues. Firstly, the blade can be a little too tightly wound on for some models (luckily you have a 2-year warranty if the blade does malfunction). Secondly, it’s not the best for comfort.

Yes, it does have a silicone grip, but you still need to have your thumb pressed firmly against the trigger the whole time. For long blending or whisking times (like whisking egg whites), this is uncomfortable and the unit itself can get quite warm, ruining any cold dishes.

We’d still highly recommend this blender for powering through quick and stubborn blends of all kinds.

Mueller Best Immersion Blender Features

  • Motor: 500 watts
  • Container size: n/a
  • Cord length: 57 inches
  • Number of settings: 9 speed settings plus whisk attachment
  • Blade: stainless-steel, 2-point, S-shaped
  • Dishwasher safe: Yes
  • Warranty: 2-year warranty
  • Suitable for: smoothies, cake batter, soups, baby food, and other hot foods

Oster Pro 1200

Oster Pro 1200

  • Includes a borosilicate glass blender jug, and BPA free food processor and smoothie cup
  • 7 speed settings and pulse mode powered by an epic 1200-watt motor
  • Stainless-steel blades 50% larger than other Oster models, with Dual-Direction Blade Technology

Our Rating: 8.8/10

There are 3 different purchasing options for the Oster Pro 1200. The top-of-the-range option (that we thoroughly enjoyed testing) comes with a borosilicate glass blender jug, a food processor and a smoothie cup… yet the purchase price doesn’t exceed $100. This makes it the best blender for the money from the entire Oster range. Impressive!

Whether you attach the heavy (but strong and high-quality) glass blending jug or BPA-free food processor jug to the base, you have the option of 7 speed settings include 3 pre-sets. We love the pre-set ideas that all you to select frozen/green smoothies, salsas or milkshakes with just the tap of a button.

You can also crush ice, blend soups, create frozen drinks, slice vegetables in moments and save yourself hours of chopping, dicing and slicing in the kitchen. For the number of features and strength of the motor, this is very good value for money.

Although the glass jar, plastic food processor jar, and bottle are all dishwasher-safe, ideally you need to take out the blade and plastic/rubber components surrounding it before placing it on the top rack. A little inconvenient but worth it, in our opinion, to have the interchangeable blades.

The performance was good, but not noticeably better than our 2 best blenders of 2020. If you use food processors a lot, this is a good combo value buy that we highly recommend. If you’ll rarely use the food processor attachment, think about using your money to buy a specialized blender from this list instead.

Oster Pro Food Processor and Blender Features

  • Motor: 1200 watts
  • Container sizes: blender 42oz, processor 33oz, smoothie cup 24oz
  • Number of settings: 7 speeds plus pulse
  • Blades: interchangeable crush-pro 6 blade, shredder, chopping blade and slicing disk (all stainless-steel)
  • Dishwasher safe: partially
  • Warranty: 3-year warranty (10-year warranty on ‘All-Metal Drive’ components)
  • Suitable for: smoothies, dicing, chopping, purees, and hot and cold blending

BLACK+DECKER Crush Master 10-Speed Blender BL2010BP

BLACK+DECKER Crush Master 10-Speed Blender BL2010BP

  • 10 different blender speeds plus a pulse mode from the 550-watt motor
  • A dishwasher-proof, multi-level, 4-point, stainless-steel blade for efficient blending
  • Lightweight 48oz jar with handle and spout for easy pouring

Our Rating: 8.5/10

We love this simple blender for its 10 different speed selections, plus pulse, and supreme ease of use. It’s not got 101 different functions that you’ll need to spend hours reading about in a manual. Neither does it have complicated extra parts that need to be hand-washed.

What it does have is a sturdy, reliable blade, a sizeable container, and all dishwasher-safe parts. This is your every day, chuck-everything-in blender. No fuss, no mess, and no cleanup. It’s earnt its place on our top 15 best blender 2020 list.

It’s best for soft foods, smoothies, dicing veg or shredding ingredients for cooking (use the pulse mode for that). You can’t use it with super-hot foods or liquids, like coffee, and after testing out the blender with some ice, we’d recommend you use ice chips rather than chunky cubes for easier blending.

In the box, BLACK+DECKER include the 48oz jar. It clips on easily, is very thin and lightweight to move around, and is easy to grip thanks to the handle. The handle, spout, and measurements on the side of the jar are a little touch that’s missing on some of the more expensive blenders.

Talking of expensive kitchen appliances, you might be surprised to know that this is one of the best cheap blenders on the market. For around $20 you can blend until your heart’s content and then chuck all the removable components (1oz measuring lid, jar, and blade) straight into the dishwasher. Quick, convenient and easy on your wallet.

Crush Master Features

  • Motor: 550 watts
  • Container size: 48oz
  • Number of settings: 10 speed settings
  • Blade: stainless steel, 4-point and multi-level
  • Dishwasher safe: Yes
  • Warranty: two-year limited warranty
  • Suitable for: cold food blending, smoothies, light dips

Ninja Mega Kitchen System BL770

Ninja Mega Kitchen System BL770

  • Blender and food processor capable of blending, processing and dough kneading
  • BPA-free plastics and dishwasher proof attachments
  • A very strong motor that turns ice to snow in a matter of moments

Our Rating: 8.3/10

The Ninja Mega Kitchen System (yes, it’s actually a system) is an impressive blender set that’s designed to cover all your blending needs in the kitchen. The blender has a powerful 1500 watt motor that can handle anything from ice blending to dough kneading.

We did let our novice bread maker have a go with the dough blade attachment and he was happy with the performance, although we wouldn’t recommend this system if you’re serious about your bread. A pro bread kneader is always a good buy!

You’ve got an XL processor and large blender for whipping up super large smoothies or soups, but don’t worry if you’re more the single-serve kind of person. The 2 cups included in the box attach directly to the blender with special cup blades.

The biggest issues we had with the system is the “dishwasher-safe” attachments. They need to go on the top rack and preferably on a low-temperature wash. Fitting a 72oz pitcher on the top rack is, for many of our own dishwashers, not possible.

Nonetheless, this blender system is worth the effort of handwashing as it is very powerful, reliable and capable. Plus, handwashing the blender components will extend their life, which is important considering they aren’t covered under the standard 1-year limited warranty.

Ninja Mega Kitchen Blender System Features

  • Motor: 1500 watts
  • Container size: pitcher 72oz, 2x to-go cups 16oz, food processor 8-cup (approx. 66oz)
  • Number of settings: 5
  • Blades: 1 tall blender blade, 1 dough mixing blade, 1 food processor blade, 1 cup blending blade
  • Dishwasher safe: yes, top rack/low temp only
  • Warranty: 1-year warranty (only for the blender, not attachments)

Cusibox 3-in-1 Personal Blender

Cusibox 3-in-1 Personal Blender

  • Two 20oz bottles included in the box, 1 is vacuum sealed to prevent oxidization for fresh tasting smoothies
  • Compact size, one speed setting and ease of use make it a perfect everyday smoothie maker for home or the office

Our Rating: 8/10

A beautifully simple blender from a brand you’ve probably never heard of. But this blender definitely deserves its place on the top 15 best blender 2020 list. It has one setting (on or off) and a simple glass pitcher – no handle or easy pour spout. The main selling point that drew us in was the vacuum bottle and single-serve design.

This is a handy, convenient blender, rather than a kitchen work-top masterpiece. It’s designed to be very quick and simple to use. In fact, Cusibox recommend you don’t blend for longer than 1 minute at a time.

Despite its simplicity, Cusibox takes safety seriously. The blender has over-load and over-heat protection. Basically, if you stuff too much fruit into the blender (we were guilty of this during one of our tests) it will refuse to start until you reduce the load.

The pitcher, bottles, and blade are all dishwasher-safe, but we preferred to handwash. You can’t deny that this is a budget blender so if you want to prolong the life of it you need to give a little TLC!

Performance was, overall, very good. It struggled a little with our ice drinks and some fruit smoothies came out a little grainy, but it was nothing a tweak to our water/fruit ratio couldn’t fix.

Cusibox’s best blender for smoothies is more of a blender package. The combination of a simple blender and a simple yet effective storage bottle is a winner that you should consider if you want a small smoothie maker without all the bells and whistles of an expensive blender.

KitchenAid KSB1575 5-Speed Diamond Blender

KitchenAid KSB1575 5-Speed Diamond Blender

  • Excellent 4-point blade design ensures lump-free blending for hot and cold mixtures
  • BPA-free spouted pitcher holds 60oz within shatterproof, scratchproof and dishwasher-safe plastic
  • Intelli-speed motor control provides superb control over the 5 speed settings: stir, chop, mix, puree, and liquify

Our Rating: 7.8/10

Who doesn’t love knowing that their colorful blender was manufactured in the USA? KitchenAid’s 5-Speed Diamond Blender is one of the best smoothie blenders we’ve tested for one very impressive reason. The Diamond Blender uses a soft start feature to gently pull fruit, ice and other ingredients towards the blade before it reaches optimum speed.

Furthermore, the blade design creates a vortex that moves around your fruit and ice leaving nowhere to hide. A very simple concept that results in no-lump smoothies every time we tried it.

Your 5 speeds are: stir, chop, mix, puree and liquify. You can also crush ice and use the pulse button on all these speeds. We particularly loved that in the manual (online and in the box) there’s a list of recommended speeds and times for different recipes. From removing gravy lumps to stirring waffle batter to savory crumb toppings.

It’s as easy to clean as it is to use. Simply unclip and twist the pitcher to remove it (along with the blade inside) and place it upside down in the dishwasher. The BPA-free plastic is shatterproof, scratchproof and stain resistant – but not invincible! We found it could handle heavy use without breaking a sweat, but it won’t survive multiple drops off a high kitchen countertop.

Overall, this is a very sturdy, capable and reliable blender. Its only faults come down to the 5 settings (as we’d like to have seen something a bit more from the “Intelli-speed” motor), 1-year only warranty, and heavy/bulky appearance.

  • Blade: stainless-steel, 4-point

  • Extremely easy to use, clean and find replacement parts
  • Fantastic for smoothies, silky smooth baby food and single-serve frozen drinks

Our Rating: 7.3/10

The Magic Bullet, the best personal blender usually on offer at Walmart and other grocery stores, is certainly worth considering as your next smoothie blender for 2020. We usually find that the small blenders from NutriBullet tend to be cheap, ultra-simple, and usually unimpressive (plus some models have terrible reviews). However, many people are fond of them and an 11-piece blender set was enough to convince us to give it a try!

We did like the selection of attachments and cup sizes to blend directly into. It saved us extra washing up that you get with pitcher blenders. We also were impressed with the ease of use… but noticed that it’s only easy when you use soft fruits and add half a cup of water. Take it from us, you don’t want to be putting ice in here.

And, although advertised as being able to whip, grind, chop and more, we struggled to get anything other than a smoothie. That’s the problem with 1-setting blenders.

So, if you want a whole array of recipes and cups to make delicious smoothies, we highly recommend this blender. For multi-purpose blenders, keep searching our list of the top 15 blenders 2020.

One last note, keep an eye out for the model number when you’re searching for the Magic Bullet 11 Piece Blender Set. We’ve reviewed the MBR-1101. Similar models look the same but contain different cup numbers and sizes!

Important Tips for Finding the Best Blenders

If you’re in a rush, need to find a good blender, and just the thought of reading reviews is causing you stress, calm down! These are the 3 most important things you need to look for to pick a blender. Skim the product info for these 3 things and you’ll have a good idea of whether it’s a good blender.

Wattage

The watts that a motor has measure its power.

Power = force x velocity

The higher the watts, the more power a motor has. The more power it has, the faster it can turn and the more force it can exert to crush and blend.

Low watts are a sign of a weak motor that may overheat with prolonged use on high settings to crush tough ingredients, like ice.

Think about what you’ll be using the blender for when you judge the motor strength. There’s no point spending a fortune on a Vitamix motor to mash up banana smoothies.

Container Size

Even the most powerful motor in a blender won’t make a difference if the blade breaks, chips or is completely blunt.

First, you only want to consider food safe materials. The vast majority of blenders use stainless steel blades, which are strong, won’t rust and can go in the dishwasher. If it’s not stainless steel, put it back on the shelf.

If the manufacturer isn’t bragging loud and clear about their 6-point, multi-level or special grade metal blade, that’s usually a sign that the blade is of mediocre quality or just the standard blade they use across all models.

If that’s the case, that doesn’t necessarily make it a bad blender. But we would suggest that you make sure finding replacement blades for that model is easy, just in case.

Container Size

We’ve kept all our measurements in this guide as fluid ounces (oz) but when you research yourself, you’re going to come across a range of measurements from liters to cups.

1 liter is 35oz.

1 cup is 8.3oz.

Remember that 1 cup refers to the unit of measurement – it might not necessarily fill your usual drinking cup.

For comparison, these are your general Starbucks cup sizes:

Short – 8oz

Tall – 12oz

Grande – 16oz

Venti – 20oz

Now you can imagine how big pitchers, cups, and containers are no matter what unit of measurement is used. If you’re blending smoothies to watch your waist line, here’s why you should probably stick to 8oz servings.

Conclusion – This Is the Best Blender 2020!

Overall, the Nutri Ninja sits on the throne of top 15 best blender 2020 list. It has the best of both worlds when it comes to price, reliability, and functions.

It’s the kind of kitchen appliance that makes cooking a joy again. It provides shortcuts from creating smoothies to dicing veg – without compromising on quality.

It must be said, Ninja blenders, in general, provide as good a performance as Vitamix.

Talking of Vitamix, we can’t write a blender guide without praising their blenders for superb reliability, construction, and materials. We just wish we could justify the price! Perhaps when we win the lottery we’ll buy one to sit next to our Ninja blenders.

As for your budget options, the much-loved Magic Bullet falls to the bottom of our list, which might have surprised you! There are better budget options out there, but as it’s still managed to grab a spot on our top 15 list you can expect good things if you do buy it.

Each blender on this list is near the top of the market going into 2020 and will definitely be a welcome addition to your kitchen cabinet.
