This staircase has concrete steps that make it a sturdy material for homes with large families. The side of the flight of stairs has wood boards. The balustrade is of glass with a black trim. The stair risers have rope LED lights that not only make it aesthetically pleasing but can become night lights too. The wall at the side of the staircase has spotlights that throw light on each stair riser. This staircase has no fancy materials or an ornate design, but the lighting makes it a lot more interesting. A niche in the wall of the staircase landing has black paint that coordinates with the black trim of the stairway.

A Floating Treads Staircase

This staircase has tree trunks cut lengthwise while keeping the live edge in its original form. Instead of trimming the edges away they are joined in the middle and the cracks formed are filled with epoxy resin. Each tread is made in the same way, and each one is unique because of the distinct edges of the wood. The treads are then fitted to the wall carefully in a way that they seem to float in the air. This staircase is for a little daring people, and not for the faint of the heart because it has no railing. With the absence of the balustrade, the stairs are more visible and elaborated.

A Rainbow Spiral Staircase

Colors mean happiness, and this staircase is a perfect way to add some colors to a home. A staircase like this can become a focal point and a source to bring cheer to an otherwise simple home. This staircase has steps that change colors from blue to green to red. Its design is in a spiral shape that is ideal for homes that are tight on space. The balustrade is of curved glass sheets, and a metal pipe railing provides support for the people climbing up these stairs. If you can’t change the whole staircase, then you can also paint your stair treads and risers with rainbow-colored paints. That will look cool too, with very little money spent.

A Staircase with a Wood Screen

This trend is also in many new homes. In this trend, the staircase acts as a separate area, and it is divided with a wood screen. Such as this staircase in the picture above. This staircase steps are like a ladder, and instead of the railing, it has a partition of wood slats. Another very cool feature of this staircase in the integration of a work table at its underside. The worktable extends out from the flight of stairs. It has cabinets underneath and shelves above. So, this turns it into a useful home office space as well. The treads and the partitioning screen have the same color, and the frame of the ladder is in a dark stain. The combination of light and dark looks industrial chic. The slatted wood partition gives a Japanese feel.

This is a straight staircase built along a wall that accesses the upper level of this house. A wooden frame with black paint supports the warm stained wood treads. So, this means even if there is no metal frame and you paint and stain the staircase frame and risers, you can still get an industrial feel in your home.  If we talk about the space under the steps, then we can see a cushy bench with beadboard paneling at its back. A wall sconce makes sure there is ample light while someone sits and reads a book. There are small wall lights along with the steps too that match the color of the staircase. There is a triangle shape glass wall as well that makes sure the stairway is safe to climb.

A Staircase with an Interlocking Design

This staircase is an architectural marvel. The treads extend into the railing and are anchored to the floor. The design is very thoughtful, as there are safe gaps between the interlocking treads. The stairs have alternative materials. This staircase is the combination of white concrete stairs and wooden stairs with identical designs. The mixture of white and wood looks stunningly beautiful. The white side of the staircase railing has the glass fitted between the bars.

A Staircase with a Platform

This is not just a staircase but a place to hangout as well. The landing of the stairs is extended into a platform that can be used as a reading nook, a napping spot, a craft area, you name it.  The stairs have a unique cut design, and the treads are covered with the same wood board as that of the floor. A PVC railing makes sure kids can climb it up safely. The platform has a recess under it that the designer used cleverly. The niche has shelves that act as a TV console for the living room. Such a staircase is suitable for homes where space isn’t a luxury, and you can toy around with this idea.

A Staircase with Spanish Tiles

One glance at this staircase takes you to the streets of Santorini with blue and white architecture. The rustic wood railing on top of the white wall is a characteristic of Scandinavian design. When you look at the tiles, you can instantly recognize the pattern to be Spanish. The treads on this staircase are of marble, which is a modern feature woven into this design fusion staircase. The wall of this staircase is textured and painted white. There is a shelf on the staircase wall, that can become a place to display a collection. The merger of white, wood, and pattern looks marvelous. Such a staircase will look good outdoor as well.

A Floating Wooden Staircase

This staircase has the steps in split level design. Each tread has two parts. The smaller raised treads are along the wall where there is a metal pipe railing on the wall. The longer and lower stair treads are supported with metal pipes that are tethered to the wall above. It seems like two staircases in two different sizes are joined into one flight of stairs. If you observe, the distance between identical stairs is sizeable. That is because this staircase is designed by keeping the left and right foot of a climbing person in mind. The ergonomy of staircase usage is skillfully displayed in the form of this staircase. Overall the design is pleasing to the eyes, and those with adventurous and experimental souls will surely like it.

Waves of Wood Staircase

At first, this staircase looks like something truly unbelievable. As if it is defying some laws of physics. But, it has a clever use of architecture principals followed. The first three steps of this wavy ribbon wood staircase are anchored to the marble floor. The real drama begins at the fourth step, where one end of it is supported on the floor. The fourth tread extends and takes a curve into the last tread tethered to the wall. The same continues and the fifth tread becomes the second last, so on and so forth. The railing is itself formed with the linking bars of wood between the treads.

Details of pure wood always bring a luxe feel to a home whether it be furniture or a flight of stairs. While you invest in the best wood for a staircase, think of ways to make the best use of your money. You can build a wooden staircase that also has a bookcase under its treads such as this one. It won’t be wrong to say that this staircase is a bookcase with tiered bookshelves forming the stair risers. Such a staircase will not only be a decorative feature in your home, but it will also boost the storage of your home while making it luxe at the same time. While choosing the wood for the staircase, make sure to choose a durable one that can endure the weight of people. Such a staircase can become a home for the collection of your books that you cherish and want to keep forever with you. You can vary the cubby sizes of the shelves, but make sure they are not completely empty because you have to create the support for the staircase as well. Choose any stain for the wood that you like. You can match the stain with your living room wood furniture as well. The polish should be long-lasting so that it doesn’t fade away when walked upon.

A Flower Petal Staircase

Here is another stunning staircase design that looks like a flower at its bloom. The treads of this staircase are cut from wood in the shape of flower petals. All the treads are supported on a rib-like structure of metal and wood, making a stunning swirled design of this staircase.  If you look at this staircase from a bird’s eye view, you will see a flower with its petals arranged in a 360 degree way. Two supporting rails of metal pipe run along the spiral staircase to provide support for climbing it. The staircase base is perched on a white deck. Since the staircase is inspired by nature, the wall along it is also decorated with green discs. Some plants are also planted in the flower bed underneath it. It seems like a unique enchanted wildflower growing amid the greenery of a secret forest.

A Staircase with Storage

A Staircase with Storage found here

This staircase is ideal for homes that have a lack of space. The risers of this staircase have storage drawers that can be used to store stuff like shoes, out of season clothes and linen. The staircase treads have their edges a bit longer so that no one gets tumbled while moving up the stairs because of accidentally opening a drawer. The drawers have clips as locks so that they can be locked away when not in use to avoid any incident. The staircase is all made with wood, including the drawers. There is a wood railing too along the wall. It is also provided with small lights along with the treads so that it is well lit even at night. The lamps elaborate on the beauty of this staircase even more. There isn’t really a need to outfit the whole staircase with drawers. That might affect its sturdiness. Just three to four drawers should be enough to boost the storage of your home. When well-executed, this idea is truly a gem. Who would have known that a typical looking wooden staircase packs a surprise inside?  In the earlier pictures, we discussed a bookcase staircase. So, if you leave the drawer fronts open, you can also make a bookcase stairway in this design as well.

A Fun Staircase Design

This staircase has a fun design with a slight touch of vintage and more modern. The lower three steps are a part of a deck that has storage drawers, cabinets, and cubby holes. The second part of the stairway starts above the step deck. Treads in a triangle shape are fixed in a swirling manner around a pillar. A white railing keeps the staircase steps anchored. The deck stairs and the treads are made with stained wood. The rest of the parts of this staircase are painted. Such a staircase can be fitted into a small space as well. Because of the spiraling, it is occupying very little space despite providing storage. The overall look is gorgeous.
