Shower Remodel Ideas

If you are thinking to remodel your bathroom, then you can also do just the shower, if the rest of the things are fine. By just improving the shower stall you can make a big difference. For example, if there is a wall that blocks light in your shower stall, you can take it down and replace it with a glass door. You can also change the tiles and other fittings such as the showerheads. You can also add some additional features such as niches, shelves and a bench. But before you start the remodel consider everything. Think of the size of the shower enclosure, change it to a bigger one if space allows. Also, add a window to the shower stall if there is none. Along the decorative features also think about improving the architectural elements. So that after the remodel you are pleased with the results. Here are some ideas.

In the photo before, we can see an aluminum frame, with textured glass and a small-sized shower. The new shower enclosure is comparatively bigger. The sliding aluminum door is gone, and now there are glass walls. A half-wall supports the glass frame, which also has a bench. Two corner shelves are also there in the new shower. A niche makes sure the toiletries are within an easy reach. The outer side of the half-wall has beautiful micro tiles. There are two showerheads, with an improved design from the previous ones.

In the earlier version, there was a metal frame glass shower stall. There was a caddy for storage and a small showerhead. In the remodel the shower enclosure is taller so that if any splashes reach upward, the wall stays undamaged. The new shower has a glass frame. A niche is also there under the new and better showerhead. The walls have white subway tiles, and the floor has micro mosaic tiles. The combination of white subway tiles and the gray mosaic tiles looks beautiful. This remodeling project shows that even if you make changes in the shower stall, the overall look of your bathroom will improve for sure.

A Modern Makeover from a Dated Style

Let’s first talk about the earlier version of this shower. It had square lavender tiles and was far from being stylish. The new design features marble tiles. There is a half-wall that supports the glass frame of the shower enclosure. The half-wall has marble tiles. There are two corner shelves, and two showerheads in this shower stall. The floor has micro mosaic tiles, that form a beautiful pattern. The look of the shower is simple yet very functional and spacious, compared to the earlier one that looked cramped and dull.

A Master Bathroom Transformation

This master bathroom had very little space for the shower stall, and a built-in jacuzzi tub occupied a lot of space. The silver frame of the window and the brass frame of the shower enclosure also created a clash. In the makeover, the bathtub isn’t there, and one big shower enclosure replaces it. The window size is now smaller, and the wall has large patterned tiles. A bench with a wood seat is there across the width of the shower. The floor has small beige subway tiles, and the walls to the sides also have oversized gray tiles. Three types of tiles complete the look of this shower stall. On one wall, there are two showerheads. The window makes sure lots of daylight reaches this bathroom during the day, and it is also helpful to promote ventilation. There is a second window as well at the wall opposite to the showerheads.

A Shower with Water Wave Textured Tiles

Previously, this bathroom had a bathtub and shower in one. The tiles were builder-grade white. A shower caddy and the bathtub corner was there as storage. There was no partition but a shower curtain that separated the bath enclosure from the rest of the bathroom. The transformation is tremendously beautiful. The walls of the shower stall have water wave texture oversized tiles. There are two niches for storage purposes. The earlier version of the shower stall had no window. In the remodel a window is there so that it can let fresh air in when the shower is not in use. The floor of the shower stall has micro square tiles. The color of the smaller tiles is in coordination with the larger textured tiles. Instead of the shower curtains, now there is a glass wall with a sliding door. The fittings are all on one wall.

A Gray Remodel

via retro bath makeover

This bathroom had a summit tub before the remodel. It had square tiles, and there was no storage available. The tiles reached just half the height of the wall. The makeover has no bathtub. Instead, there is a white shower base and wooden floor tiles next to it on the floor. The two corners of the shower enclosure have shelves in an identical design. The walls of the shower stall have grainy gray tiles. The showerhead is on one side, and the shower is open without any curtain or a glass wall. This is most probably for the reason that the wooden tiles are water-resistant. A light on the ceiling makes sure the shower area has ample light. The combination of gray, white, and dark wood looks simple yet very chic.

This bathroom was a hotch-potch of a lot of things in one small place. There was a bathtub with a glass wall. In the makeover, the toilet seat and the sink are now at new locations. The whole corner has a corner bathtub. The niche that was earlier above the toilet seat is now a part of the shower enclosure. A cabinet unit is now there above the shower stall that has lighting underneath it. The cabinets can store the extra toilet paper rolls, towels, and toiletries. The bathtub surround has classic white subway tiles. The bathtub has a glass shower door. The niche can provide space for baskets to store toiletries and other essentials. The floor has wood boards, and it complements the white tiles of the shower and bathtub combo.

If space is not limited in your bathroom, then you can include the bathtub and the shower stall both in one shower enclosure. The bathtub surround has white subway tile skirting. The walls have black subway tiles. Next comes the base of the shower stall. It has hexagonal micro mosaic tiles in white color. A beautiful printed roman shade makes sure the bathtub has privacy.

A Complete Transformation

via have need want

This bathroom had a bathtub and a shower combo. In the remodel the bathtub isn’t present and now there is a shower stall. The walls have a very chic type of tiles. The tiles have a marbled pattern, and they have texture too. So, you get the feel of the marble and modern texture simultaneously. The floor has Verona marble tiles that mix with the wall tiles pretty well. They are in contrast yet cohesive. On one side of the shower stall, there is a showerhead in a square shape. On the opposite wall, there are niches for storing toiletries. There is a bench at the corner of the shower stall too. It also has the same textured tiles used on the walls. In the new look, the window is now upwards and is comparatively narrower. It is enough to let air in and dry out the shower stall after use. A window is an ideal way to promote air circulation in your shower enclosure so that any growth of molds doesn’t happen. A sliding glass door makes sure no splashes of water reach the area outside of the shower stall.

An Urban Farmhouse Makeover

This master bathroom had a pentagonal shower enclosure in the corner. The size was small, with a lot of space wasted. The remodel features a roomy shower stall. The ceiling outside of the shower area is also covered in shiplap wood boards, creating a rustic farmhouse feel. If we talk about the walls, then we can spy subway tiles on the walls. There are Moroccan patterned tiles in white and gray on the niche and the shower bench. The shower bench is narrow and doesn’t occupy a lot of space. But, it provides a place to sit or place your shampoo bottle and other essentials. The floor also has grayish-white mosaic hexagonal tiles. Though there are three types of tiles in this shower enclosure, they all look well coordinated. There is also a storage space carved out at one side of the shower area. It has wooden shelves that can store baskets of toiletries, clean towels, and toilet paper rolls. Along with a fixed shower and a hand shower, there is a shower pendant as well, which is something new and interesting. The shower enclosure has a glass door that makes sure water stays inside and doesn’t splash all over the floor or vanity counter placed next to it.

This shower stall has a combination of vintage and contemporary elements. The walls have marble subway tiles. There is space for storage too, at the side of the shower stall that has shelves. A vintage style chandelier and a large ornate mirror are icing on the cake.

A Striped Marble Shower Makeover

This shower had a wall and a plexiglass door. A peek from above the door shows it had brown and white striped tiles. The makeover is stunning. With the same size, it looks far more spacious and bright. After taking down the wall that was earlier there, the shower walls got covered in striped marble tiles. The two colors of the marble tiles create a beautiful contrast. There is a brass showerhead inside the shower enclosure. The floor has mosaic tiles and right next to the shower stall is a vanity. Above the vanity, there is a beautiful lighting fixture that lights up the shower stall as well as the light crosses from the glass door.

A Simple but a Practical Remodel

A Simple but a Practical Remodel

via extremotuxtla

This shower was behind the half-wall of a bathtub before. Which at one look tells that it made absolutely no sense. It was a design blunder because the shower stall had a bench too that occupied most of its space. There was nothing that could divide the shower stall from the bathtub, and the design was not practical at all. There is no bathtub next to the shower stall in the improved design. After the renovation, a knee wall supports the glass structure of the shower enclosure. The shower stall walls got tiles, and there are three shelves at the corner.  The shelves help to keep the shampoo bottles and other things in an easy reach. There is a towel bar as well inside the shower area.

Usually, showers that have a knee wall also have a glass partition. But this shower is a little bit different from the conventional style. It has gray and white tiles all over its walls. There is a half wall at one side that has a toilet roll holder, next to the toilet seat. There is a niche on the opposite wall. The shower enclosure has a white base. At the corner of the bathroom, next to the shower stall, there are shelves. The shelves provide storage for extra toiletries and towels. A white shower curtain divides the shower area from the bathroom.

I really liked the way you talked about how installing a window directly over the shower is a great way to promote better ventilation and prevent mold. We're planning to do a huge makeover for our bathroom to make it more like a relaxing spa area, and since we'll be using it more often, I wanted to know how we can avoid mold formation there. Once I find a shower remodeling service in the area, I'll make sure we plan with them in order to have windows like the ones you suggested.
